Update On Last Night’s Disruption

Hi to all!

In the interests of transparency, I’d just like to update you on what happened last night to cause part of Joe’s show and most of Buffy’s to be either badly buffering or unavailable.

Our hosts have told us that there was an attempted DDOS attack on their main data centers in London last night. For those like me who haven’t a clue what that means, DDOS stands for Distributed Denial of Service, which in normal people’s terms means some pain in the neck third party tried to hack in and shut them down.

From my minimal research this is quite a common thing on the Internet and happens to high profile services like banks etc.

Our providers tell me that all is back to normal now and the stream is steady which is great news.

Apologies for the disruption and thanks for being so supportive to the presenters affected.

Even more thanks goes to Joe and Buffy who continued broadcasting with all the buffering and downtime, especially Buffy who had to put up with me running around doing techie stuff to try and fix something that it turns out I couldn’t fix anyway … 🙂
